Frequently Asked Questions - Mike Curran Photography

1. Do you need a deposit?

Yes. I require a non refundable booking fee of €250 and a signed online contract to secure your wedding date.

2. Can you hold our date provisionally?

Enquiries and bookings generally come in fast and some dates can fill pretty quickly. To avoid disappointment for anyone I don’t hold any dates without a booking fee and signed contract.

3. Do you have backup equipment?

Yes.  I probably have too much as my wife keeps telling me! I carry multiple Nikon & Sigma lenses and camera bodies with me to each wedding so coverage would not be affected if there was an issue. I also have a detailed archiving system to back up securely your wedding photos both online and locally.

4. How long before I get my pictures?

I will give you 20 edited photos within 48 hours of the wedding that you can share on social media if you want and also a slideshow is created within 48 hours. Full editing and Post processing generally takes between 4-8 weeks but during and after peak season it may extend to 12-16 weeks.

5. What is involved to make a booking?

I require a completed online contract and also a €250 booking deposit. Receipt of both secures the date. Payment can be made by Cash, Bank Transfer or Secure Online Card Payment. It's very simple and the online contract can be done in a few minutes online

6. Can we give you a list of photos we want?

We can discuss this during your pre-wedding consultation.  The style for a large portion of my wedding day is photojournalistic documentary, pretty much everyone books me for the free flowing style, minimal, the documentary side of it requires me to be watching and waiting for moments to happen, so the answer is yes for family formals and important photos. Life can be short and can change quickly so I like to get as many photos of you and your quests as possible , I will always be happy to chat to you about photos you might like to get.

7. If we book you for the wedding, can we buy an album after the wedding?

Yes.  Not everyone knows what they are going to want before the wedding, so I have all my albums added after the wedding. You can also download versions of your photos and they can be available on an USB also.

8. Can we order professional prints from you?

Of course!  You will receive your full gallery by private link where you can order professional prints directly and have them delivered to you within 2 weeks.

9. Can we print our own photos?

Yes.  You can receive the wedding photos print ready at low resolution online, or high resolution images on a USB for your own personal use. I always recommend that you get your prints from a professional lab to ensure correct colours and quality archival paper and inks so your memories will last a lifetime.

10. When is the balance due?

Most people pay their balance pre-wedding by bank transfer or online card payment, but it is due latest on the day of the wedding by cash.

11. How long do albums take?

Once sent for print, I will generally have the albums back to me within 6 weeks, sometimes less. But you will pick all the photos and have full control of the design.

12. Do you have a second shooter?

No.  With over 200 weddings from experience I find I can easily cover a wedding day on my own, I start 3 hours before the ceremony giving me time to get to both locations in the morning. If you require a second photographer for grooms preps, contact me and I can organise, but this will be extra depending on the photographer and the times needed.

13. If you get sick, what happens…?

I’m happy to say I have a great network of over 250 professional wedding photographers that I could rely on to shoot your wedding in the event I was too sick to attend a wedding. Someone that would have a very similar style and approach to me would be asked to step in.

14. Do you edit the photos or do further enhancements like skin retouching or blemish removal?

All images are processed using the latest software to achieve my signature style of editing, photos will be composed, colour corrected and some converted to Black and White. If there are more advanced edits or enhancements or retouching required, these can be quoted accordingly.

15. We are just recently engaged, when should we book?

I book weddings as far out as three years, it is recommended to secure your booking as soon as you can. If you really like my style don't delay, meet me if you can as getting to know my personality is a big part of choosing a photographer, I will be with you for  12+ hours on your wedding day so it's important to make a connection.

 16. We are thinking of hiring a videographer.

I can offer some really great recommendations for videographers that have a very discreet approach and some that very much compliments my style.  Make sure to ask me about this. I think a videographer is very important as some emotions cannot be captured in a photo, and it's another pair of eyes to see things happening on the day

17. Can you offer recommendations for other services for our wedding?

Yes.  I get to see a lot that happens in wedding days. I have a huge list of supplier names and would be happy to recommend someone that I know would do an amazing job for your wedding.

18. Pre-wedding consultation… Whats involved?

This is generally a meeting where I come to your home or nearby hotel to discuss your wedding and show you lots of my sample albums, Its a chance to see if you like my personality which is a big part of the wedding day experience. I also have a pre wedding meeting or call with you the week before the wedding, it is generally a chat about the timeline of your day and key details to be covered and so we are all singing off the same sheet!

19. Do you have insurance?

Yes. I have full private and public liability insurance and I am covered for all OPW sites and venues for photographs

20. Any other questions?

Please ask me if you have anything else or I have not covered it above.
